COME Christmas, for the first time Australians should be able to choose from a range of services for legally purchasing online and downloading music.
But, while anyone booting up their machine on December 25 may be spoilt for choice, it remains unclear whether anyone will find the ability to download music a boon.
While some legal download services have been successful overseas - especially Apple's iTunes - licensing restrictions stopped Australians purchasing from most of them.
The ability to download music online has long been perceived as a strong selling point for broadband.
