From staff reportsDecember 31, 2003
You took off all the ornaments, wrapped them up and put them away for next year.
You took off all the lights and carefully coiled them before putting them in a box, where they will somehow tie themselves into a mammoth knot by November.
Now, what do you do with the tree?
Bring it to Home Depot off Shugart Road, where you can have it turned into mulch and get a free seedling and a Chick-fil-A coupon for your trouble.
Keep Dalton/Whitfield Beautiful is holding its annual 'Bring One for the Chipper' event, encouraging area residents to keep Christmas trees out of landfills by recycling them into mulch, which is then offered free to Whitfield County residents.
The county public works department will be providing a chipper.
The mulch will also be used for public beautification projects"
