Last year, Linda Vandrell and her family did not celebrate Christmas by decorating a tree or exchanging gifts.
Instead, the Blue Springs resident spearheaded a gift drive to provide holiday cheer to 1,602 military members serving in the Middle East.
This year, she will again host Operation Christmas Stocking, collecting donations to fill stockings and Hanukkah bags for soldiers fighting abroad
